EXP3 WEEK03 THE PLAN

PLAN / SECTIONS & INITIAL SKETCHUP DRAFT

I chose the Villa Mairea by Alvar Aalto to draft out my plan of the building and look at it sectionally.

Initial Sketchup Model

i based the mass off one of my 2 point perspectives

the school of architecture / bridge connects the squarehouse to the Tyree building to emphasise the theory of sustrainability and utilisation of natural resources

EXP3 WEEK01 ONE POINT PERSPECTIVES & THEORY

ONE POINT PERSPECTIVES & THEORY

Theory --> I sourced my article from ArchDaily, which focuses on Hiroshi Sambuichi's architectural philosophy
https://www.archdaily.com/873169/hiroshi-sambuichi-architecture-begins-with-water-air-and-sun'

Hiroshi Sambuichi's architectural philosophy --> architecture should work in harmony with the environment so that it becomes a natural part of the Earth

KEY WORDS (from the article/ video interview in the article)
[ organic, elements (of nature), harmony, manipulation ]

  • organic forms
  • primary concern is to utilise natural resources
  • minimise the environmental impact of architecture that is built
  • withstands the test of time
  • air and wind movement is encouraged by the shapes of the building
  • uses all the elements of nature (water, fire, earth, air) to influence design
why? ---> if we cant sustain the environment there will be no earth left to design for
sustainability, humbling human's opinion's or sense of entitlement

Glenn Murcutt "touch the earth lightly"
